Stay away from the TV
after you decide which box will occupy your day
and don't listen to bad dreams
why would you trust a product of your own deluded brain?
Trapped inside by a foot of snow
people they haven't got a place to go, no
behind the bars of your idle mind
lurk all the answers you aren't eager to find
reopen doors that you've kept locked for years
and rediscover all those childhood fears
there is some damage which can never be healed
but still some light that hasn't been revealed
And why do we do it to ourselves
owning the traumas which were cause by someone else?
neglected children cannot hope
to posses the tools with which to cope
You cannot blame the clouds for rain
you cannot blame yourself for pain
you never had control, son
you're just a product of a loaded gun
the minds of children in the hands of brutes
never stood a chance against abuse
forever altered beyond repair
they tried to warn you, you didn't care
You didn't care

Little Dyings

I could never take a lover
who would ask so much of me
there is so little left to give
and I'm too concerned with staying free
my heart's a wild animal
no it cannot be subdued
dare to trap it in your cage
if you're ever in the mood
And I am not growing younger
in fact I'm crossing through the line
between youth and adulthood
and I must leave my lust behind
the days are getting shorter
I watch the hours keep passing by
life's just a fleeting interest
to occupy before I die
A restless soul in a wild world
reckless and rash to keep up
endless bombs and barbs to be hurled
you see the world through the same half-broken cup
no time for love in a rabid world
no time for life just out of reach
you lose more with every breath
there are no lessons left to teach
